This post will mainly be comparing the character Hulk portrayed by Edward Norton in the 2008 film to Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in The Avengers Assemble.
The Incredible Hulk takes you through this amazing journey where you really see the personal side of Bruce Banner and his struggles with have gamma infection. He wants to find a cure and stop being like this, and wants to control it. He is unsuccessful with controlling it that much, but he thinks he finds a cure, this ultimately creates an antagonist for the film for him to 'defeat'.
There is such an emotional scene where he is on the university campus and under attack from the army who want him captured. Bruce Banners girlfriend played by Liv Tyler runs out onto the field and just looks at him saying his name, and you can see it in The Hulks eyes that he knows her and realises he's Bruce Banner.
The casting of Edward Norton is great because he is actually a scrawny, geeky man who creates such a contrast when he transforms into The Hulk.
Now, my first comparison...Mark Ruffalo is NOT a geeky, little man, he is buff and an unrealistic portrayal of Bruce Banner.
In The Avengers he starts of by not being able to control his anger, in the scene where he almost kills Black Widow. Then later on he all of a sudden can, where he is actually in the formation of The Avengers, he takes orders Captain America...THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN.
That's the biggest comparison really, but after watching The Incredible Hulk a week ago, I realised properly that The Hulk in The Avengers is all wrong and doesn't make sense.
