The Amazing Spiderman...

I'm a bit late watching this film because I wasn't a massive fan of Toby Maguire previously, and of Spiderman in general, but I finally watched it...

I'm impressed! I really love Andrew Garfield, he IS Spiderman in my eyes. He did a fantastic job;

1) He's gorgeous
2) He's adorable with his cute little 'oops' smiles

3) He is a real geek because he loves science and is really good at it
4) His chemistry with Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) is so real

I couldn't help but compare the Toby Maguire Spiderman to this one, because well you just have to...and I preferred how his father died in this one and how he dealt with finding the murderer. I liked how he realised his Spidey senses, the way he experimented and learnt to do things. And the best thing of all was the accuracy to the comic - he built his own web shooters!

The action scenes were incredible, his sarcasm and wit when defeating bad guys was just hilarious, I LOVED it.

I have one big criticism though....I DO NOT like Rhys Ifans or The Lizard..

The actual lizard is just plain weird, the fact that it talks and has a bald head just looks weird! I get why he wants to make everyone a lizard but I don't get why he went after Peter Parker personally...so Peter found out that it was Kurt Connors who was the lizard, and Connors wanted to stop him because he knew...so where did he go?!...to his school!...a very public place! Makes no sense.

This film is far better because he is involved in science, so the spider bite is more realistic. His family is better, and the beginning of them film mentions his parents and I like that.

Overall I would give it 3.5/5 purely because I hate The Lizard, but everything else is great!

Iron Man 3...

(there will be spoilers!)

This film was a highly anticipated film, and I was thoroughly excited about it!

Now then, this review will talk quite in depth about it because I only saw it yesterday!

Overall, this film was AMAZING, I love Iron Man and Tony Stark so I was thoroughly happy to be in the cinema for 2 hours watching Robert Downey Jr! (he's lush)

Now then, not all of this film was amazing, unfortunately. The biggest problem I had with it was the bad guy..

If you guys have seen it you'll know that 'Mandarin' is not actually the guy from Pakistan, he's just an actor staging everything on behalf of someone else. This person's motive for killing lots of people is none other than just a grudge..and I thought that was a bit lack lustre.

And there's a comic book element that I was disappointed by; the attempted killing of the President...why go for him, what has he done? (well probably a lot of annoying things, but cmon!) - it was a bit obvious.

Also, the villains' powers were a bit weird, the whole lava thing with all the burning...bit confused as to how they made that, but I guess the whole premise of the films is that everyone is very smart..and I guess the lava thing was pretty clever! (so i'm on the fence with that)

Right then, there were sooo many amazing moments:

  • it's TONY STARK - he was just wonderful, his usual sarcastic self and all perfect and yummy
  • Pepper Potts was great because she had more to do - SHE WAS IN A SUIT! (best thing ever)
  • even though Mandarin turned out to be an actor, it was Ben Kingsely and he was hilarious! I did love that side of the twist because the guy got high and drunk all the time!
  • the army of suits and the special effects and all the fighting could not be faulted
  • the relationship between Tony and Pepper was just lovely
  • with the lava people I was like - "how's he gonna stop them!?!?"
  • all the twists and turns and working everything out was 'on the edge of your seat'
Yeah, so, mixed reviews...but the good clearly out weighs the bad so i'm going to say it ROCKS.

(I do prefer the first Iron Man though, just, by the way)
